The Role & Project:

As a proud Thiess company, MACA will provide specialist civil construction services at a greenfield copper mine in North West Queensland, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People.

MACA is seeking a HSE Officer to join our team working on this exciting new project on a 2:1 roster.

Locals in North West Queensland, including Members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, are highly encouraged to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate and the candidate’s location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane with accommodation on site.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with health and safety activities including reporting and administrative tasks.
• Ensuring that company and OHS policies, statutory requirements, and other safety commitments relevant to Project Operations are established and maintained on-site with ownership and direction being provided by the site team.
• Assist with the preparation and implementation of HSEQ Management Plans, standards and procedures.
• Ensure quality control of records within, and maintenance of the MACA Data System.
• Assist line management with the incident investigation and reporting process.
• Exercise a high duty of care for your own safety and the safety of others.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• 2+ years’ experience in a similar role in a mining/civil construction environment.
• A current Australian driver’s licence.
• National Police Clearance.
• Experience delivering safety initiatives.
• Sound written and verbal communication skills.
• Intermediate skills using the Microsoft Office suite.
